KEY DETAILS
Roche's phase 3 trial comparing enicepatide and tirzepatide in 948 diabetes patients has not yet started recruiting.
A trial published October 21, 2026 in NEJM found retatrutide cut AHI significantly more than placebo in adults with obstructive sleep apnea.
On Friday, October 23, 2026, two research updates touched the GLP-1 world. One is a newly registered trial setting up a direct comparison between two drugs for type 2 diabetes. The other is a published study on a different investigational compound and a different condition. If you are watching how these medicines stack up against each other, here is where things actually stand.
Roche, through its subsidiary Hoffmann-La Roche, has registered a phase 3 trial comparing enicepatide against tirzepatide in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus whose blood sugar is not well controlled on oral medications. The trial is listed as not yet recruiting, with a record date of October 22, 2026. It plans to enroll 948 participants, and its listed completion date is April 23, 2029. Anyone hoping for a quick read on how these two drugs compare will need to wait, since the study has not started pulling in participants yet.
A separate study, published October 21, 2026 in the New England Journal of Medicine, looked at retatrutide given once weekly in adults with obstructive sleep apnea who also had obesity or overweight, with or without type 2 diabetes. This one is a randomized controlled trial. It found that retatrutide produced significantly greater decreases in the apnea hypopnea index than placebo. That is the full scope of what the published record states.
Both of these records are worth a closer look if you want the complete details behind them. You can find the full entries, including sponsor information, trial status, and study citations, on glp1laws.com. Nothing here is a final result for the Roche trial, so there is nothing more to report on that front yet.
